How do I register for a race?

Online: To register for any of our races, simply click on on the "Register" button next to the event you are interested in. You will be taken to the Active.com website to complete your registration, make your payment and purchase a t-shirt. By Mail: If you prefer to register by mail, simply download and complete our Registration Form and email it back to CharlieAlewine@gmail.com. Be sure to include the date and name of the race you are purchasing. Refer to the form for payment information. Race Day: You may also register on race day at our check-in booth. After you complete and sign our Registration Form, you may pay for your race by cash, check, Venmo (Charlie-Alewine) or PayPal (CharlieAlewine@gmail.com).

Can I change my start time or to different date?

You may transfer your entry to another race one time only, if you let the RD know three days prior to the event. There is a $10 transfer fee.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?

Unfortunately, you may not transfer your entry to another runner. However, you may transfer your entry to another day, a one time only offer, three days prior to the event. There is a $10 transfer fee.

Is there an early expo/packet pick up?

No. Please come on race morning about 20-30 minutes early to pick up your race bib & to hear additional info about the course.

Are there any refunds?

Because of the nature of event planning, all entry fee payments are non-refundable and all sales are final. We have several options: Your entry can be transferred to a friend or to a new race though!

What’s the minimum age?

Athletes must at least be 14 years old to race solo. Young athletes 7-13 years old may compete on the 3 mile course if they’re accompanied by a parent. Any athletes younger than 18 need to bring a parent or legal guardian on race day to sign a waiver.

Can I do multiple races at C.A.R. events?

No, we limit each racer to participate in only one race per day.

I'm from out of town. What hotels are nearby?

Some nearby hotels can be found below, but Charlie Alewine Racing has no affiliation with any of them. The Race

Is the course Boston Certified?

No, none of the courses are certified. However, each has been run multiple times while using Garmin/GPS devices, and are quite accurate at marathon/half distance.

Can I drop to a shorter race during the event?

Yes, but you must do so before the race starts to be eligible for placement.

Is the course chip timed?

No. There is an official clock with which the time is kept, but since the race rarely has over 100 participants, it is quite simple for our staff to keep track of each runner as he/she comes in for each lap, and then gets a final time on the final lap.

Is there a course time limit?

Yes, but it's flexible. For 5Ks & 10Ks - 3 hours, Marathons & Half Marathons - 6 hours, 50Ks - 9 hours, 50 Miles - 13 hours. If you think you need more time, talk to the RD about starting early.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We're currently looking for volunteers. If you volunteer, you earn a free race for either yourself or a friend. Hours are from 6:00 - 10:00 AM. Please email the race director ASAP.

Is there an early start?

Starting early is usually an option. Please contact the RD to inquire if this is possible prior to race day. However, runners who start at a time other than the start time(s) listed for the event don't qualify for placement.

What is traffic/parking like in the morning?

Since these races are generally small, traffic is never an issue (as it pertains to traffic from fellow race participants- but be sure to always plan ahead for possible traffic issues for other reasons!), and usually neither is parking. No shuttles are ever needed to get to our races. For any transportation concerns, please inquire for the individual race.

What hapens if it rains?

Rain, hail, sleet or snow, we'll be at the start line ready to go. We do everything we can to put on a race in nasty weather but if athlete safety or the venue is threatened by the weather, we may have to cancel. Sorry, there are no refunds due to weather.

Is there a gear check?

You may leave gear at the aid station at the race start, if needed. However, since parking is nearby, most runners leave personal items in their cars. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST, STOLEN OR ABANDONED ITEMS YOU LEAVE AT RACES.

Can I have friends or relatives run with me without paying for the event?

No, you can't have your friends/family run with you and not pay. Bandit runners are not welcome.

On the Course

Can I bring my dogs, strollers or headphones?

Only service dogs will be allowed on the course. Strollers are permitted, however, they will begin the race at the back of the crowd. Headphones are permitted- but use caution. Strollers are also generally okay. Sorry, but dogs aren't allowed.

Will there be water and aid stations?

Aid station locations vary from race to race. See individual race info. You will find ample Gatorade, water, bananas, cookies, chips and other sweet and salty snacks. You may need to bring your own energy gels and food. And there are friendly faces cheering you on!

Can I dress in a costume or wild colored attire?

Please use discretion, no personal seeking attire that is for your own personal promotion/goals. Have a crazy costume? That’s fine, as long as your clothing does not put anyone (including yourself) in danger.performance apparel.

What if i get hurt on the course?

Because we know how awesome our athletes are, we do have medical teams and course personnel roaming the course at all times in addition to the medical tent at the finish line. If you do get hurt, and are around an obstacle, there will be a volunteer or a medic there that has direct communication with the event directors and we can send one of our course medical teams to your location. If you are not around an obstacle, please tell a fellow athlete to let the next obstacle volunteer or medical teams know and we’ll get help to you ASAP.

How are bathrooms along the course?

City and park area races usually have plenty of restrooms. For trail events, it varies from race to race. There are always restrooms at or near the start/finish area.

Can I start the race, leave, then come back and finish it later?

No. Once you start a race, you can't leave the course and then come back later to finish it.

Are alcoholic beverages allowed?

Absolutely No Alcoholic Beverages Allowed at C.A.R. Races!!
